5 Twin Cities Theaters for a Show This Winter | Counselor Realty

The winter season will be coming to a close in March, but there's still time to duck out of the cold and enjoy a good old-fashioned theater. In fact, from now until the end of the season, there are tons of exciting shows to be found near a variety of Minneapolis and St. Paul homes for sale. If you're new to Minnesota or the general area, here are some of the best theaters to check out before winter ends.

  1. Orpheum Theatre - 910 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55403
The Orpheum Theatre, known as the Hennepin for many years, opened in 1921. Since then, the theater has seen the likes of The Marx Brothers, Jack Benny, George Burns, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, and many other amazing performers. It's also been used as a musical venue, cinema house, and live theater venue. The biggest show during winter will be Mamma Mia!, followed by Clue. After that, you can enjoy The Lion King from the end of March until the end of April.

  2. Pantages Theatre - 710 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55402
The Pantages Theatre has been around since 1916 and has been a popular venue for multiple screenings, live theater, live music, etc. This theater shut down in 1984 only to be reinvigorated and reopened in 2002. From now until the end of the winter season, you can check out the comedy Ali Siddiq: I Got a Story to Tell, Gaelic Storm and The High Kings, and other amazing events. There is always something for everyone at Pantages.

  3. Palace Theatre - 17 W. 7th Place, St. Paul, MN 55102
Palace Theatre has delighted audiences since 1916. From the 1920s until 1984, it served as a movie theater until its renovation and re-imagining as a contemporary entertainment venue. There are multiple upcoming events during the winter season, the most notable being Sebastian Bach (from Skid Row and Gilmore Girls fame) and Greensky Bluegrass. Bring your friends and family for a terrific time!

  4. State Theatre - 805 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55402
The State Theatre also debuted in 1921, at which time it was known as the most technologically advanced theater in the country. It's only gotten better in the past 100 years. It's now home to some of the most amazing performances, including those of Sweeney Todd and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. It was even the chosen location for the world premiere of the Minnesota-based movie Grumpy Old Men in December 1993. During the remainder of the winter season, you'll be able to see Black ViolinBaby Shark's Big Broadway TourRandy Rainbow for President, and other amazing shows.

  5. The Southern Theater - 1420 Washington Ave. S, Minneapolis, MN 55454
It never ceases to amaze us how many incredible theatrical venues you can find in the Twin Cities. The Southern Theater is another place that has sustained a vibrant artistic community for many years. More specifically, this venue has been known as a place where non-traditional and engaging live art is welcome. The remainder of the winter season will give you access to Kaleena Miller Dance, the Collide Theatrical Dance Company, and other amazing performers that will present you with the night of a lifetime.

The Twin Cities area is filled with entertainment venues to keep residents occupied and delighted for decades. Call today, and we'll help you find your dream home in the area.
